EN / PRACTICE
A works with practices that are considered as self-destructive, unproductive, unlivable, unsurvivable. Their indisciplinary practice always unfolds within the material, corporeal and contextual constraints of their production. A’s methodology is based in performance art and has resulted in the form of protocols, writings, documents, altered objects, actions, exhibitions, theatrical staging and site-specific installations. These forms are often the result of citational and narrative processes, allowing them to refuse acts of avowal, disclosure and thwart accounts of oneself.
A’s work has notably been presented by Sara’s at Dunkunsthalle (New York, US) and L’Oeil de poisson (Québec, CA), Verticale (Laval, CA) and L’Imagier (Aylmer, CA) in 2024, Centre CLARK + GNO (Montreal/Sudbury, CA) in 2023, Le Lieu (Québec, CA) in 2021 and 2023, Gruentaler9 (Berlin, DE) in 2022, Folie/Culture (Québec, CA) in 2018, 2020 and 2022, at Centre SKOL (Montreal, CA), FAPTR (Trois-Rivières, CA) and OFFTA (Montreal, CA) in 2019. Their writing has been shared through written publications, such as in Inter, Moebius and Cigale & at readings, notably at Calliope, Port de tête la nuit and the Festival de poésie de Montréal. The development of their first stage writing and directing project, que vaut la tête qui s'écrase sous une lumière qui ne s'éteint jamais, has benefited from a one-year residency at LA SERRE – art vivant (Montréal, CA) in 2023-24, as well as at Voart (Val d'or, CA) in 2024 and at Théâtre de la vie (Bruxelles, BE) in 2022. Their next exhibition, la personne de moi-même, will be presented at Caravansérail (Rimouski, CA) in January 2025.
A holds a master's degree in visual and media arts from UQAM (2023), where they developed protocols for a performative practice of self-”harm” within an anti-psychiatric lense. Their research practice is invested in rejecting the mortifying, individualizing and depoliticizing aspects of current perspectives on "mental health", and thwarting certain processes of psychiatricization. They share this through pannel discussions and publications within the university context. Their MFA has received the support of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC).

FR / PRATIQUE
