This live online performance revolved around the memorization of an excerpt from VALIE EXPORT's poem mit masochistischem zwang [By a masochistic force] (1973).
"I wish to officiate as gravedigger for my person," wrote VALIE EXPORT in January 1973. I wondered, as the artist is known for some of her performances in which she attacks her own body, what does such a statement do to the reading of her work? What happens to the text when it is dislocated from EXPORT's body of work? What way of being in the world is constituted in wanting to be our own gravedigger?
